Hi.

Happy Holidays 2016!

Now that we live in a different country than our families, have a young son of our own, and Brett has to work in the studio up until Christmas Eve, we are now those people that travel right at the last minute during the holidays.  I’m talking 6am flights with a toddler.  This also means that while everyone else is off from school and spending time with their families, it is just me and the little man (big man at work) the days leading up to Christmas.  Instead of feeling homesick or left out, I’ve used this week to reflect on what a beautiful holiday season we’ve already had so far.

I’ve been doing a lot of baking lately, but not a lot of blogging.  I’ve stock-piled all this holiday content that I created for this space and my freelance assignments, but did not carve out much time to share it.  Here is what I’ve been up – in the kitchen and out!

I am one of those people who truly love the holidays.  Mid-October I start getting sad that everything will be over soon.  Crazy, I know.  I start making holiday bucket lists as soon as summer comes to a close so we don’t miss anything.  And while I feel like there is still so much left to do on my list, we’ve actually done a ton.  And the BIG day has yet to come!  We fly out on Saturday morning to spend nearly a week in California with both sides of the family.  I am beyond grateful for this time together with everyone.  As I get excited for Everett to run around with his cousins, waking up Christmas morning at my parents’ house, my brother being home this year (!!!), holiday open house with friends, etc., let’s take one more look at the highlights of the past few months:

Huff Holiday Bucket List
–  Apple picking AND pumpkin gathering
–  Rainy weekend coffee and donuts with Uncle Ryan
–  Ev’s first Trick-or-Treat
–  My FIRST turkey for Canadian Thanksgiving
–  Toddler cookie decorating party
–  Brett’s company Christmas party + kids party with Santa (Ev cried, poor guy)
–  Everett’s first snow!!!  He’s a huge fan.
–  Annual German Christmas Market with the grandparents
–  Enchanted light maze – Everett loved it!!
–  Holiday cookies for the local fire station
–  Christmas shopping with my mom
–  Christmas dinner with my two boys
–  Watching all the holiday magic through the innocent eyes of a toddler

Of course we didn’t get to everything, but looking back, I am so grateful for another memorable year.  Now, time to finish packing before we head off to sunny California to start another round of family Christmas fun!

Happy Holidays, Everyone!!!

Cheers to this Champagne Mimosa Cake!
