Valentine Spice Cookies


Turn up the heat this Valentine's Day with these Cinnamon-Molassas Spiced Cookies! Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 sticks unsalted butter

  • 3/4 cups packed brown sugar

  • 1 egg

  • 1/2 cup molasses

  • 3 cups all purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ginger

  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

  • 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract


  1. Sift together dry ingredients. Set aside

  2. In the bowl of an electric mixer, beat butter and sugar on medium-high until creamed (about 3-5 minutes)

  3. With the mixing running on medium-low, add in molasses, vanilla, and egg

  4. Slowly add in the dry ingredients in two batches, being careful to scrape the bottom of the bowl between additions

  5. Scoop and divide dough into two balls and wrap with plastic wrap. Refrigerate for 4-12 hours

  6. Preheat over to 350 degrees

  7. Once ready, roll out half of the dough to a 1/4 inch thick on a lightly floured surface

  8. Using varies heart cutters, cut dough into desired shape and place on ungreased cookie sheets

  9. Repeat with remaining dough

  10. Bake for about 8-10 minutes, or until edges are toasted brown

  11. Remove from oven and cook on a wire rack

  12. Once completely cooled, ice with your favorite Royal Icing recipe
